Abstract

Smartphone addiction, sometimes colloquially referred to as "nomophobia" (fear of being without a mobile phone), is often triggered by an excessive internet use problem or internet addiction disorder. After all, the phone or tablet rarely creates the compulsion, but the games, apps and the online world connect us. Present study is having objective of to identify and compare the difference between conventional courses and technical courses students on smartphone addiction. The sample of the study will comprise 240 students studying in higher education residing in Gujarat state. The sample will be randomly selected through random method from various conventional and technical course institutions in Gujarat state as per the requirement of the research design of this study. Smartphone addiction scale developed by Vijayshri and Masaud Ansari was used to collect data. Data was analysed using SPSS software. The results indicated there is significant difference between boys and girls of conventional courses and boys of conventional and technical courses on smartphone addiction.
