IMPACT OF PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT AND GENDER ON CAREER DECISION MAKING AMONG ADOLESCENT

Career decision making is a procedure which will lead to both the professional and personal satisfaction of a person. Some people find it easy to choose the correct career, whereas others struggle greatly with it. Therefore, it's critical to comprehend the variables associated with challenges in making career decisions (Gati, 1996). The purpose of the present study is to study the effect of parental involvement and gender on career decision making in adolescents. The sample of the study will comprise 120 adolescent students studying in Arts stream higher secondary schools in North Gujarat state. The sample randomly selected through random method from various higher secondary schools in North Gujarat state as per the requirement of the research design of this study. The Parental Involvement scale developed by Vijaya Laxmi Chauhan and Gunjan Arora and the Career Decision Making Scale developed by Kirandeep Singh were used to collect data. Data was analyzed using SPSS software. The results indicated a significant difference between the adolescents having more and less parental involvement on career decision-making. There is no significant difference between boys and girls adolescent students on career decision making.
