A STUDY ON WORK- LIFE BALANCE AND ITS IMPACT ON JOB SATISFACTION AMONG SECONDARY SCHOOL TEACHERS OF GOA

With the aim of improving the Education system and to prepare the children competent enough, the responsibilities of teachers has taken to the next level. Due to increase in socioeconomic changes, increase in global challenges and work culture, the work load of teachers in every school seen to be increased. This has made difficult to every teacher to balance their work load and life , the two important aspects of one’s life. Majority of teachers in Goa finds it difficult in maintaining a good balance between Work and Life and thus finds it as a challenging task. Work-Life Balance is significant in achieving Job satisfaction and to get maximum work results. Imbalance in Work-life leads to stress, overburden and thus teachers fails to extend their efforts towards the achievement of their students learning. Consequently the job satisfaction level of teachers declines. Hence, in this paper the researcher has highlighted the problems faced by teachers in their daily work life. The researcher intend to study the Work-Life Balance and Job Satisfaction among Secondary School Teachers of Goa wherein a survey of 115 secondary school teachers from 8 different schools of Goa were selected using a Stratified Random Sampling Technique. The study is Descriptive in nature and data was collected through Questionnaire. SPSS 22 software was used to find the correlation and significant differences between the two variables with respect to gender and type of appointment. The paper includes findings, reasons and recommendations discussed in the last section of the research study
